NEW rough mix versions of two songs

by Tina - 5:51 p.m. PDT on May.17.2009

We spent yesterday in the recording studio and have updated versions of "Tuesday Night Lovesong" and "Happenin' Hominid" up.  I would post the new update to "Dick Jock...", but this was the last one we worked on and it has some leveling issues (as we ran out of time).  But, next time!

April Fool's Show

by Tina - 1:21 p.m. PDT on Apr.11.2009

Tony & David - Kimo's Apr 1 2009

Whew...finally getting a chance to post.

We played a show at Kimo's in SF last week (April 1st).  And, it was a true April Fool's show.  The Shangorillias took the stage first...an 8-piece band that was spilling out off of the stage.  They kicked ass with their lead singer lighting up the room with her energy (and gyrations!).  Then, of course, DESTRUCTION ensued when we took the stage!  Afterward, Wizard Boots and friends picked up the pieces in their wonderfully wacky way which included a full-on kazoo section complete with a musical rubber chicken.  If you didn't get a chance to witness this show, you really missed something!

More New Songs (again)!!!

by Tina - 11:44 p.m. PDT on Mar.23.2009

We just spent 3 long days in the recording studio working on more new songs for our upcoming release. It should be ready soon (i.e., within a couple of months).  So, until then, we have 4 new rough mixes...

New recording dates and Jan 24th show cancellation

by Tina - 3:38 p.m. PST on Jan.6.2009

We are excited to announce that we're scheduled to go back into the recording studio on Jan 18 and Jan 25.  We'll be that much closer to finishing the next long-awaited CD.

In sad news...  We found out yesterday, from one of the other bands on the bill, that the January 24, 2009 show at Broadway Studios in SF is cancelled.  Actually, to be more accurate, it was never finalized.  But, the reason is moot, I guess...either way it's still not happening.  Sorry.  We were really looking forward to rockin' the hell out.  But, keep your eyes and ears attuned, though, for new show postings.

We hope you and yours are having a great and happy New Year!!!

Rockin' the Rockit Room

by Jade - 3:48 p.m. PST on Dec.16.2008

Man, what a fun Saturday night we had at the Rockit Room. We knew it was going to be a special show when Addison played a rockin' version of a local soccer team's theme song, entitled "Soccer (On the Wings of a Dove)." Hilarious! From that moment on, humor and team spirit were in the air, setting the stage for an awesome party. In case you weren't at the show, check out Fujiko-Chan... they tore it up with their fast-paced high-energy rock. Plus one Awesomeness Point for their great costumes. Congrats also to punkers Cousin Dale for the release of their latest CD!

The big excitement for us was playing a set that was comprised entirely of new songs. In the last three months, we have been writing & writing (also, writing), and our eight-song set was jammed exclusively with new tunes. From the feedback we've been getting, folks were digging 'em. And it makes us happy when you're happy.

Thanks to friends old and new for coming out! Our next show is on Saturday, January 24th. For now, we're headed back to the studio. If we weren't such rockstars we might also admit that we will be heading to our various hometowns for holiday family time. But rockstars don't do that kind of thing, so neither do we. Instead, we'll just say this.

Bandiversary at Bottom of the Hill

by Tina - 8:32 p.m. PST on Nov.26.2008

Bottom of the Hill - San Francisco

Thanks to all of you who came out to help us celebrate our 2nd annual Bandiversary!!!  The Family Arsenal and The Bye Bye Blackbirds' sets were awesome!  During our set, we happily unveiled a number of new songs which will be included on our upcoming CD (expected sometime in 2009...sorry we can't be more precise at present).

Here's wishing you and yours a Safe & Happy Thanksgiving!!!

New Song Posted!!!

by Tina - 1:11 a.m. PST on Nov.12.2008

As a result of our recording session on Nov 2nd, we have a new song to post, "Fake".  It's a little rough around the edges and still needs a little work, but much less so than the other 3 songs we worked on that day.  We are just so excited to have something new to put out there.  So, here it is...check it out!

Fake (3.9 MB MP3)

Recording - Nov 2, 2008

by Tina - 2:14 p.m. PST on Nov.8.2008

Last Sunday, after waiting nearly 5 months for the stars to align (damn those full-time jobs, friends, family and...lives!), we finally got back into the recording studio (Different Fur in SF) to begin work on more new songs for the upcoming full-length CD scheduled for release sometime in 2009.

If you'd like a preview of the stuff we're working on, come out to our show on Tuesday, November 25th at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco.  It'll be the deep breath before the plunge into the sumptuous gluttony and family drama that is Thanksgiving.  And, besides...IT'S OUR BIRTHDAY show!!!  Help us celebrate our terrible twos!

Two new songs for download!

by DK -  Jul.2008

In mid-June we spent some time at Different Fur Studios recording two songs which have been part of our live set for a while now: "Hologram" and "Wild Alone." They're posted to our Music page right now, and we'll probably get them up to the Imeem and MySpace pages soon enough:

Hologram (5.4 MB MP3)

Wild Alone (5.4 MB MP3)

Let us know what you think!

Jade singing into a cup of coffee.

by DK - Jun.2008

Yes, that's Jade singing into a cup of coffee, trying to get exactly the right effect for the gurgling underwater background vocals which will be featured throughout our upcoming rock opera, Die Skalen des Aquamenschen.

Last weekend we spent over 20 hours at Different Fur studios with Aaron Burnham, who helped us record and edit "Hologram" and "Wild Alone," which have been part of our set for almost a year. Finally committed to rough mix, we'll probably have final versions out very soon.

We came we saw, we bled.

Tony feeling happy just before the show

by DK - May.2008

That's right — I ripped some flesh off my ring finger during "Rabbitdog Lizardsnake." Look at me Damien, it's all for you.

...and of course for everyone else too. A big THANK YOU to all our friends who came to our shows and voted for us in the Battle of the Bands. Yesterday wouldn't have happened without you. For those of you who braved the chilly post-race Footstock festival, extra special love and attention is deserved (requited, not so much, but keep a tab anyway).

Best part for me personally was congratulating each and every one of the Kenyan race winners as they approached the stage to receive their awards, while smiling Jade and Tony, resplendent in his rhinestone sunglasses, sang a-capella "Sex Friend" in our open-air "green room" porta-tent.

Several of our friends were snapping photos, but until they get them developed, you can glimpse the dionysian joy and holy mass of inebriates that is San Francisco's Bay to Breakers on Flickr.

Check out our radio interview

We were interviewed earlier today by Angie Coiro during her remote show for Green 960 AM at the ING Bay to Breakers Greater Body Expo in San Francisco.  It was totally fun and, yes, I do love chocolate enough to fight for it!!!

It's FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. So, come on over and listen to some great music while you rest up after running/walking/skipping/however-the-hell-you-transported-yourself though the Bay to Breakers course. Even if you don't "run" and B2B is an spectator sport for you, come on anyway. And, Footstock is not just about the music. There will be great food, a costume contest, and (did I mention?) there will be BEER Gardens.   :)
