"Megafauna" Tracks Playing on KUNV 91.5FM - Las Vegas

by Tina - 12:36 a.m. PDT on Jul.10.2010

Hey guys and gals!

We just found out that KUNV 91.5FM in Las Vegas, NV is playing tracks from our latest album, "Megafauna", during their Neon Reverb show on Saturday nights from 8-10 p.m. PDT (Pacific time zone).  They are scheduled to play "Happenin' Hominid" this Saturday (7/10/10).  So, if you're in Vegas, tune them in or, if you're not in the area, listen to their stream on the 'Net at: http://streaming.kunv.org:8000

KUNV is billed as a Jazz station, but breaks from that format for certain shows, like Neon Reverb.  If you want more info about the station or have problems connecting to the stream, go to their website, kunv.org, for more details.

We had a blast playing a show in Vegas last month during our tour and hope to go back soon.  It's such a fun place!  But, we don't need to tell you, right? <wink, wink, nudge, nudge>

Last Night's Hemlock Show

by Jade - 11:02 a.m. PDT on Jul.1.2010

Greetings from the land of the Crazies!  Last night was another rockin' adventure at Hemlock Tavern .  We had a fantastic time playing and really dug the energy of the crowd, which was unexpectedly substantial, especially for a Wednesday night.  If you were there, huge thanks!  My favorite part of the night was hearing the audience's beautiful voices join in for singing Happy Birthday to Tina.  Much love!  Speaking of love, The Interchangeable Hearts opened up the night and they were great -- to me they sounded like a Blondie / Fiona Apple / Cake three-way lovechild.  Check 'em out.  Also, Warren Teagarden and The Good Grief tore it up at the end of the night -- their music sounded solid solid solid with their new(ish) line-up.  Thinking on it now, Hemlock is definitely one of my favorite local venues to play.  Great sound, people, and bartenders, not to mention the local flavor, which last night included a guy who rapped positive rhymes for us outside the venue at 2am.

Next up for us is a festival show in Antioch on Saturday, July 24th.  We have advanced tickets on hand ($10) and will be making quite the party out of it, so please get in touch if you'd like to come out to the warm weather with us!  I'm looking forward to tailgating in the summer sun and then rocking out at night.

Now, we are looking forward to our upcoming local show at the Hemlock Tavern in San Francisco on June 30th with Warren Teagarden and The Interchangeable Hearts.  Also, we've added (and will continue to add) more local shows in the upcoming months. Check our shows page for more details.

April 14th Interview w/ Russ at Pirate Cat Radio

by Tina - 2:31 p.m. PDT on Apr.17.2010

Crazies at Pirate Cat Radio

Once again, we beset upon Pirate Cat Radio's San Francisco studio to interview with Russ Forster during his show, Punk Prescription. We discussed a range of interesting subjects from our first try of their infamous bacon latte to naked women on bikes to Suzi Quatro and her innate sexiness which then proceeded to progress to more carnal things. We also talked about our new album (and listened to a few tracks), our upcoming tour and local shows.  So, check it out.

Radio Interview 2/24...live or nothing :(

by Tina - 2:41 p.m. PST on Feb.27.2010

For all of you who missed the live show: We got the word that the podcast/recording will probably not be available due to technical problems with the recording equipment during the show. So, if you didn't catch it live, you probably won't hear it at all. But, we were asked back for another interview that will probably take place sometime in April. We'll announce it as soon as the details become available.

If anyone out there grabbed a recording of the interview/show, we would REALLY appreciate getting a copy.

Slammer Nabs Equalizer and Wicker Man or: Thanks for Coming Out to the Hemlock to Celebrate the Release of Megafauna

by Tony -11:07 p.m. PST on Nov.16.2009

blog

Edward Woodward, who played the urbanglo (i.e., a hybrid of urbane and anglo -- in the '80's we could have called this a sniglet) quasi-vigilante Robert McCall in the cult 1980's TV show The Equalizer, died today.  While Woodward was undoubtedly super-cool in that show playing an ass-kicking Brit who fed bad guys just desserts when the police wouldn't, he will be best remembered by geeks like myself as the hapless protagonist of The Wicker Man, one of the most unexpectedly frightening -- and frighteningly unexpected -- creepout films of the 1970's.  You start out thinking this film is just some goofy hippy-era celebration of paganism and non-traditional lifestyles, but don't be fooled -- this film has fangs.  And whatever you do, do not turn the movie off before it ends, even if you find yourself wondering why the hell you bothered with it when you could be in stoner-bliss watching Mother-Fucking-Nature crush the Earth in Roland Emmerich's latest cock-tosterone-fueled disaster epic.  I'm serious -- if you make it to the end of The Wicker Man, it's a film you won't soon forget.

Speaking of creepy things that end on a high note, the Crazies want to thank everyone who came out to our CD release show Thursday night at the Hemlock.  It was an awesomely fun night for us, and we loved having the support of so many friends.  We're working on scheduling more shows for the coming months (with more new songs to boot!), so stay tuned for that.  And if you didn't get a copy of Megafauna, we'll be selling it very soon on CDBaby.com.  Ciao!
